EDUCATION BUILDINGS AND SCHOOL ARCHITECTURE | RIBAJ

Updated: Aug 6, 2019

I attended a half-day RIBAJ seminar on 'Education Buildings and School Architecture' in which several architects discussed their own school designs and discussed precedents from around the world. Amongst the speakers were Dr. Sharon Wright who introduced a few spatial configurations of 'high density schools' in metropolitan areas. She discussed the stigma against building tall buildings and introduced ideas about different school configurations including: the dispersed school, the repurposed school and the high rise school...

Simon Tucker from Cottrell and Vermuelen was also one of the guest speakers. He had previously led the Education workshop with MAUD earlier this year. It was good to catch up with him and see where his practice's projects were going.
